Doug earned his Bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Wittenberg University and his MBA in finance from the Pennsylvania State University. Upon graduation he moved to Atlanta and has been practicing as a CPA in Georgia for over 30 years. In that time he was Audit Manager in a Big 6 accounting firm; CFO, CEO or Managing Partner of several businesses; and COO of two large Atlanta-area non-profit organizations. More recently he worked as a Principal with Firestorm, a company nationally-recognized for its expertise in business continuity and disaster readiness planning, as well as in crisis management. He also has experience providing turn-key services for business startups, and consulting and strategic planning for small to mid-size businesses via BizLaunch Now, a Johns Creek consultancy he founded.
Doug has also served as President of the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce for the past two and one-half years. During this span the Chamber has more than doubled to over 425 members. His vision for the JCCC is to see the combined efforts of its members facilitate consistent and robust growth for the benefit of the Johns Creek business community; with an overflow of support and benefit to the residents and civic, spiritual and arts organizations of what is the 10th largest city in Georgia.
Doug enjoys opportunities to serve in multiple roles. He currently serves on the Board of the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the North Fulton Transportation Planning Task Force. Doug is an active member of Perimeter Church, where he was a founder of Boy Scout Troop 317. He has three grown children, and enjoys running, reading, tennis, travel and time with his family.
